Supplies:

  1. Tree climbing kit
  2. Helmet
  3. Foot loop prusik
  4. Tape for securing lens secured with bowline on both ends
  5. screwdriver secured with bowline on both ends
  6. tool belt
  7. bulb
  8. place to put old bulb
  9. headlamp

Knots needed:

  1. knot on weight
  2. knot for pulling climbing rope with throw line
  3. knot around caribeaner for tie-in - anchor hitch
  4. figure 8 for backup and prevent pulling through
  5. friction loop through pulley
  6. valdotain tresse (4 wrap - 3 braid)
  7. prusik for foot loop
  8. figure 8 on a bite (used along the way up)

Process

  1. inspect equipment
  2. throw line (don’t forget to run through friction saver first)
  3. Pull up friction saver
  4. pull up real rope
  5. tie knots 3,4 on working end
  6. tie knots 6,7 on running end
  7. check all the knots, suit up, and start climbing
  8. pull on friction knots 6,7 to descend

Ideas for next time

  1. use second line once reaching the ceiling– will prevent spinning and have second point of security 2.
